Interactive Media Limited an exception to norm in SVG

Well respected Vincentian economist Christian I Martin, often comments in his editorial pieces that Interactive Media Ltd (IML) is a significant exception to what normally obtains in the private sector in St Vincent and the Grenadines, where most successful local businesses are owned and run by single families.{{more}}

Apart from the fact that IML was formed by a group of unrelated persons, all from humble beginnings, another exception is that they have managed to stay together for so long.

Martin is biased, we admit, as he is one of the 21 persons who own the company, which is run in accordance with corporate governance best practices. IML holds annual general meetings each year, and at these meetings, one third of the directors retire. The board meets monthly, and at the first board meeting following each AGM, a new chair is elected, or the sitting one must have his or her tenure renewed.

Corletha Ollivierre has been chair of the company since 2005, when she took over from Clare Keizer, who had been at the helm from 2003. The company’s first chair, Dr Adrian Fraser, served in this capacity from 1995 to 2001, when he was replaced by Dexter Rose, who was chair until 2003.

The present board of directors comprises Corletha Ollivierre (chair), Sebastian “Bassy” Alexander, Sir Errol Allen, Dr Adrian Fraser, Clare Keizer (CEO), Roxann Knights (recording secretary) and Renwick Rose.

Former board members are Christian “Cims” Martin, Norma Keizer and Dexter Rose.
