Troumaca Bottom Beach targeted for recreational development
The Troumaca Bottom Beach, located in North Leeward, is set to undergo major transformation as part of the World Bank funded “Unleashing the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC) Project”. On April 5, 2026, UBEC held a community consultation with the residents of Troumaca to present and discuss the proposed plans for the redevelopment of Troumaca Bay. The meeting served as an opportunity for residents to voice their opinions, ask questions, and learn more about how the proposed initiative could benefit their community.
Among those present was Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, Dr. Kishore Shallow, who was an active participant in the discussions. In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT on April 6, 2026, Minister Shallow expressed optimism about the project, emphasizing the beach’s potential for growth and community improvement. He said the site would be ideal for development because “it is a great prospect for increased tourists…”.
The North Leeward parliamentary representative projected on the potential of that entire geographical area.
“…We thought that establishing another area on the north leeward coast will be quite a great boost for tourism and also to create opportunities in North Leeward for people.”
