Round D Town Relay attracts over 60 teams

The 2026 Team Athletics SVG Round D Town Road Relay set for this Sunday, September 27 in the streets of capital, Kingstown, has attracted a whopping 62 teams.

The start list shows the secondary school category having 36 teams: 20 males and 16 females.

Accounting for another 22 is the primary schools’ segment, as 12 male teams and 10 female teams are registered.

Making up the open category are three male teams and one female outfit.

The Round D Town Road Relay which signals the official start of the Road Racing season, comprises for legs, with each beginning and ending outside Bank of SVG on Halifax Street.

The primary school athletes head to the old Ju-C building on James Street, then take a right turn down to KFC, continuing along Bay Street to the Old Anglican School building on Higginson Street then onto Back Street and back to the start line.

In the case of the secondary schools and open categories, runners start on Halifax Street, proceed to Sharpe Street and onto Bay Street. From there, they will make a a right turn on Linley Street onto Back Street before heading back to the finish.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category.

Returning to defend their titles are the Chateaubelair Methodist School who champed both genders in the primary schools’ component in 2025; Barroualle won the female secondary title, and Georgetown the male.

IT DAT Academy took the open female title and Team Mustangs the open male.
