Five charged in separate ammo and firearms offenses
Police arrested and charged five men in connection with two separate firearms and ammunition offenses in operations conducted on Sunday, September 26, 2026.
In a release, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said in the first matter 38-year-old Zane Dopwell, a mechanic of Walvaroo; and Kyle Ragguette, a 33-year-old entrepreneur of Long Wall, were jointly charged with possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition.
It is alleged that the two had in their possession one Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol and 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition, in Paul’s Avenue, without licences issued under the Firearms Act.
Dopwell and Ragguette appeared before the Serious Offences Court, where they pleaded not guilty. They were denied bail and the matter was adjourned to October 5, 2026.
In the second matter, Tearon James, a 29-year-old, mechanic; Terrell McLean, 32 years old, a tradesman; and Akeem Peniston, 32 years old, a labourer were jointly charged with possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition.
The men who are all from Diamond, allegedly had in their possession in Kingstown, one Diamondback .380 semi-automatic pistol and six rounds of .380 ammunition, without licences issued under the Firearms Act.
James, McLean and Peniston appeared before the Serious Offences Court, where they pleaded not guilty. They were denied bail, and their matter was adjourned to October 12, 2026. The police said investigations are continuing.
The RSVGPF is continuing to encourage members of the public to provide information concerning illegal firearms, ammunition and other criminal activity. That information can be provided to Police Control at 457-1211 or to the nearest police station.
