Lawyer hints at legal action against Commissioner
Lawyer, Grant Connell has hinted at the possibility of pursuing legal action against Commissioner of Police (COP) Enville Williams regarding statements made in a recent video broadcast and also in a published statement.
“We’re dealing with a commissioner who spoke out of turn…,” Connell said on Hot 97.1 FM’s AM Mayhem radio programme on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The lawyer was commenting on these publications by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) on April 30, 2026.
In the video publication, the COP said in part, “The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has noted with grave concern public comments recently attributed to a prominent attorney at law during proceedings at the Serious Offences Court (SOC).
“In these proceedings counsel suggest that people who wish to surrender illegal firearms should be careful which police officer they approach on the basis that weapons will return to the streets that were previously handed over to the RSVGPF.
“I want to state emphatically that there is no truth, absolutely no truth in this crazy suggestion by counsel. Every firearm in police custody can be accounted for and none have ever been returned in the hands of criminals.”
The commissioner said if the lawyer has evidence to support his claim he should present it to the police so investigations may be done and persons may be held accountable.
