Vincentian-based in Holland pays fine, avoids jail on marijuana charges
A senior citizen of Barrouallie who is based in the United Kingdom (UK), was fined for illegally possessing, trafficking and exporting cannabis after claiming that he did not know his actions were illegal.
Kelroy Edwards, 70, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John, on April 27, 2026 where he was charged that on April 26, 2026 at the Argyle International Airport (AIA), he did attempt to export 1,986 grammes of cannabis, a controlled drug; had in his possession 1,986 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of drug trafficking; and had the drug with intent to supply to another.
The facts are that around 3:00 p.m on the date in question PC 1021 Thomas was on duty at the Argyle International Airport when she was summoned to the hold baggage area.
Upon arrival, the officer met junior aviation officers and a male passenger. PC Thomas saw a black duffel bag and a taped package on the counter that was cut open and she had a conversation with the officers.
The corporal identified herself as a police officer and informed the passenger of her duties. His passport was requested and upon perusal his name was found to be Kelroy Edwards of Amsterdam.
