Vincentian Educator Among Top Three US Principals
A Vincentian educator who began her teaching career at the then Kingstown Methodist School has been recognised among the top middle school principals in the United States.
Dr. Deborah Dennie, a graduate of the St. Vincent Girls’ High School, was recently named one of the top three middle school principals in the United States through the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), after first being selected as Maryland’s 2026 Middle School Principal of the Year.
Dennie, who has led Leonardtown Middle School for the past decade, was honoured during the NASSP National Education Leadership Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. last month.
Speaking to Maryland-based news outlet The BayNet after the national recognition, Dennie admitted the moment left her overwhelmed.
“I was shaken. I had sweaty palms. It was like- did he just say that? I’m a finalist?” she said.
For Vincentians, the achievement represents another example of national talent excelling on the international stage.
