SVCB staff members keep customers in festive mood

The management and staff of the St Vincent Cooperative Bank were not the only ones in a festive mood over the past week.

Staff members ensured that their valued customers were also in high spirits, during a week of activities to commemorate that the institution opened its doors to the public 70 years ago.{{more}}

The week began with a thanksgiving service, which took place at the Arnos Vale Methodist Church, with the Reverend Monty Maule delivering the sermon.

Other persons addressing the congregation during the service were Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, as well as president and chair of the Board of Directors of the bank Margaret Ferrari.

Both speakers heaped praise on the financial institution for its endurance over the years, especially during the period of the tumultuous global economic upheaval.

Gonsalves and Ferrari joined with others to implore the staff to uphold the high standard of service that the bank has been known to deliver to its customers, and wished the institution many more years of continued existence.

The highlight of Sunday’s service, however, was the performances put on by the staff members.

Decked in their special uniforms of the day, complemented by scarves for the women and bowties for the men, the “Penny Bank Choir” thrilled those in attendance with a number of hymns and songs that members of the congregation deemed appropriate for the occasion.

Steel pan and vocal renditions by Afia Warren and Nma Nickie also drew rave reviews from the congregation.

Sunday’s “high” flowed into the work week, when the staff donned their new uniforms on Monday, and throughout the week, cheerfully distributed anniversary memorabilia to their customers.

These included mugs, pens and other items that customers can use during their daily lives.

On Thursday, customers were treated to light refreshments, as well as steel pan music from Nickie, who played her heart out for her customers.

Although the week of activities ended last Friday, customers of the St Vincent Cooperative Bank can expect to be treated with the same courteous and efficient service all year round.
