Radcliffe benefits from Digicel Grassroots Project
Local Cricket club Radcliffe is among seven organizations across the region to benefit from the latest handout by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Digicel Grassroots Club Grant Programme{{more}}
Radcliffe, one the leading cricket units in St Vincent and the Grenadines, received US$5,000 towards purchasing training equipment.
Radcliffeâs head of organization is President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket association Julian Jack.
Like Radcliffe, Pennyless All Star Cricket Club of Nevis and the Tete Morne Grand Bay of Dominica say they will utilize the funds to purchase training equipment.
Also benefitting from this, the third phase of disbursements, are Antigua and Barbudaâs Liberta Sports Club and the Alescon Comets Sports Club of Trinidad and Tobago. Their grants are for a training programme, with Grenadaâs St Andrews Cricket League planning to upgrade their washroom facilities and the Kingston Cricket Club of Jamaica using their funds for the renovation of their club house and gym.
It is the second time both the Liberta Sports Club and St Andrews Cricket League have received disbursements.
Liberta had previously received funding for all-weather batting nets, while the St Andrews Cricket League purchased gear and had a training programme.
Radcliffe is the second Vincentian club to receive assistance under the programme, with the Neil Williams Academy being the first.
Then, the Neil Williams Cricket Academyâs cause was to help fuel its training programme.
To date, a total of 23 clubs in nine countries have benefitted from the initiative, which is geared towards assisting clubs in three main areas: infrastructure development, strengthening training programmes and the procurement of gear and equipment.
The total of the disbursements thus far in the programme has been put at US$120,000.(RT)
