Close friend says Layou man’s death was not by stabbing
Reports that Layou resident Renold “Bagga” Quashie was stabbed and killed seems not have been the correct conclusion, a relayed by a friend who referred to the conclusion of an autopsy report.
Quashie, a 52-year-old man, was found dead in Layou on Tuesday, August 3, 2026. Although the scene had pointed to Quashie falling from a porch wall, some people began expressing the view that he was stabbed and that had resulted in him falling to his death.
One of Quashie’s close friends told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 that people were saying Quashie, was stabbed; he fell on some rocks below the porch wall and sustained a head injury. She said the injury resembled a stab wound, but an autopsy report has laid that conclusion to rest.
“He was a good man and I always said if his phone and other items were not missing that it was not a robbery or anything,” the Layou resident told SEARCHLIGHT, while noting that she was told the autopsy concluded that Quashie’s head was impacted by a sharp stone/rock on which he fell.
Police, up to press time, had not made an official release on the incident but said they have launched an investigation at the time of the incident.
