Da Silva blasts ton in Secondary Schools’ Cricket Competition
Dominic Da SiLva of the St. Vincent Grammar School blasted the first century of this yearâs United Insurance Secondary Schoolsâ 30 overs Cricket Competition, when he struck 122 against the Bequia Community High School last week Thursday.{{more}}
Playing at the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Bequia, Da Silvaâ s innings was decorated with 15 fours and 3 sixes, as the Grammar School, batting first, piled up 315 for 8 from their 30 overs. He was supported by Kutbert Springer who made 36.
Making a significant contribution was 90 extras, which included 54 wides.
Akeem Ollivierre took 2 for 60 for Bequia Community High.
Aaron Friday was the only significant scorer with 26, as Bequia Community High was dismissed for 118 in 19.5-overs.
Ronique Da Breo captured 5 for 27 for the Grammar School
At the Buccament Bay Playing Field that same day, Petit Bordel Secondary School beat Central Leeward by 60 runs.
Petit Bordel Secondary was all out for 174 in 27-overs; Shammon Hooper hit 31. Lamont Grant grabbed 3 for 29 and Shaquille Davis took 2 for 10 for Central Leeward.
Central Leeward was then dismissed for 114 in 26-overs; Lesbert Jeffrey top scored with 47.
When the competition opened the previous day, the West St George Secondary defeated the St Josephâs Convent Marriaqua.
West St George Secondary posted 189, to which St Josephâs Convent Marriaqua responded with 59, going under by 130 runs.
Earlier this week, the St. Vincent Grammar School whipped the Thomas Saunders Secondary by 116 runs. Grammar School made 171, then shot out their opponents for 55.
The St Clair Dacon Secondary posted 212, with Troy John making 48. Emmanuel High Mespo was bowled out for 71. Austin Edwards bagged 6 for 11.
George Stephens Secondary lashed 265 for 7, then dismissed Sandy Bay Secondary for 110 , to win by 155 runs.
The Bethel High School recorded a nine wicket win over the St. Martinâs Secondary. Bethel, replying to St. Martinâs 117, reached 123 for 1. (RT)
