Jacobs sends stumps flying in school’s cricket opening

Kentish Jacobs will always remember January 24, 2005, at the Stubbs Playing Field. Playing for the Bishop’s College Kingstown against the St. Martin’s Secondary in the United Insurance Schools’ Cricket competition, the right arm medium pacer captured a hat-trick of wickets.{{more}}

He sent two batsmen’s stumps flying and had the other caught, with successive deliveries.

Jacobs efforts, though, were not enough as his school finished on the losing end.

An opening ceremony preceded the match. Twenty-four schools are participating in this year’s tournament. Two schools are first time entrants the Bequia Seven Day Adventist and the Petit Bordel Multi Purpose Centre.

The Emmanuel High School Kingstown won last year’s tournament.

United Insurance has been sponsoring the tournament since 1986.
