Ambassador Jackson presents her credentials in Cuba
Ambassador of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to the Republic of Cuba, Angella ‘Idesha’ Jackson, earlier this month presented her credentials to Cuba’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro.
At the ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, in what she said was “a wonderful experience,” the diplomat presented the Letters of Credence as Ambassador designated by St Vincent and the Grenadines to the government of the Republic of Cuba.
The Cuba-trained accountant said she considers Cuba her second home, after spending six years there earning her Bachelor’s degree in accounts and finance.
“We have come full circle. We are back, with me representing our government and, specifically, our people. So it’s indeed a pleasure and an honour,”Jackson said at the ceremony.
“It was, indeed, a heart warming experience that 20-plus years later I am now here to serve and represent my country.
“It was an honour to be treated with all the courtesies of someone representing their country at this level,” she said.
Days later, Ambassador Jackson was among Heads of Missions from around the world presenting their letters of credence to the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez.
Also presenting credentials were four other resident Ambassadors from Lebanon, Ghana, Uruguay, and Suriname, along with non-resident ambassadors from the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Seychelles, the Republic of Maldives, and the United Kingdom of Cambodia.
Jackson graduated from the University of Ciego de Avila in 2007 with a degree in Accounting and Finance.
Ambassador Jackson was among the new heads of missions and consulates named by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment, and Diaspora Affairs, Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble in January, 2026.
Her appointment as a diplomat in Havana, took effect on March 1, 2026.
St Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1992.
