Trinbago Knight Riders clinical as they begin defense of their CPL Title
DEFENDING REPUBLIC BANK Caribbean Premier League (CPL) champions Trinbago Knight Riders, were clinical in all departments, as they overcame the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 19 runs on the Duckworth/ Lewis/ Stern Method on Saturday, August 8, in match two of the 2026 edition.
The Patriots laboured to 109 for 9 from their 20 overs on a sluggish pitch that assisted the Knight Riders bowling.
Mystified by the wily Sunil Narine, who had the amazing figures of 3 for 7 from his four overs, and assisted by Terrance Hinds-3 for 33, and Dominic Drakes- 2 for 20, the Patriots never occupied any period of dominance.
Only Kevin Wickham 38, and Johnson Charles 21, displayed any resistance.
Affected by rain, the Knight Riders were 94 for 2 from 15 overs, as the DLS Method came into play. Matthew Breetzke led the reply with 35 not out.
