Trial begins for man accused of aggravated burglary against retired principal

A New Montrose man, who is accused of committing aggravated burglary against a retired principal, is standing trial at the High Court.

Kenroy Bibby, who was 21 years old when he was charged with indictable offence, appeared at High Court #2 before Justice Rickie Burnett on October 9, 2023.

Bibby is charged that on August 7, 2021 at New Montrose he did trespass into the house of Antoinette Jardine of New Montrose while being armed with a cutlass, and stole $3,500, the property of Antoinette Jardine.

Prosecutor Cornelius Tittle appeared on behalf of the Crown.

Though Bibby was represented by lawyer Israel Bruce when he appeared at the Serious Offences Court in April 2022 for hearing on the same matter, he was unrepresented during his trial at the High Court.

A nine-member jury comprising four females and five males is hearing the evidence at the trial.

The Crown will be calling a total of eight witnesses to testify in the matter including key witness and the virtual complainant Jardine, along with her son, who was said to not have been present at the time of the offence.

Bibby told the court that he will be calling his brother to testify during the trial.
