Fourteen receive Building and Loan scholarships and bursaries
THE STVINCENT BUILDING & Loan Association (SVBLA) has awarded scholarships and bursaries to 14 students as part of its continued commitment to supporting young people in their educational pursuits. At the 2026 Scholarship Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, August 13, at the headquarters of the SVBLA, three students received first-time scholarships, while 11 students received bursaries. This year’s ceremony was held under the theme: “Potential is only the beginning, own your story, build what comes next.”.
Speaking at the ceremony, SVBLA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Keyon Thomas, congratulated the recipients and encouraged them to continue working towards excellence as they progress with their education. He told the students the ceremony was more than simply receiving financial assistance.
“…this afternoon belongs to the scholarship recipients…this ceremony is not only about receiving financial assistance, it is about recognizing potential, hard work, discipline, and promise,” he said.
