Slain man’s mother has no idea what caused his death

Michael “Short Boss” Miller’s mother has described the slain man as, “quiet and cool” while stressing that she has no idea who would want to kill her son.

Miller, originally from Stubbs, was shot and killed in Georgetown on Monday, July 3. The man, said to be 44, was shot multiple times about his body.

On Wednesday, Miller’s mother (who chose not to give her name) said her son last visited her in January, and she last spoke to him about a month ago.

“He don’t really trouble people. If you trouble him he will get real on top of it … but he don’t trouble people. He walk, he going where he going he would say hi …. I don’t think he deserve that death,” said the dead man’s mother as she sat on the porch of her home at Stubbs with a friend.

She said her son would have celebrated his 45th birthday on December,15. He had no children and had moved to the country side several months ago.

“I have no idea what caused it, but persons saying it was mistaken identity,” the elderly woman said, while adding that this is the first time the family has experienced anything of this nature.

She said Miller was the third of eight children and they are awaiting an autopsy.

Miller was the second person to be shot in Georgetown that day; the first being Floyd McDowald, a 28-year-old farmer who was taken to the Modern Medical Complex in Georgetown with a gunshot wound to his right thigh. McDowald is said to be in stable condition.

The murder rate here for 2023 currently stands at 26, up to the time of going to press.
