Police investigating the murder of Fitz Hughes fisherman

THE POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Roland Baptiste, a 35 year old fisherman of Fitz Hughes who died on July 1, 2022 after he was shot about his body with a shotgun on June 27 in Fitz Hughes.

According to a release from the police, Baptiste died as a result of his injuries at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on the body to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The assailant or assailants are so far unknown, but the police release said investigations into Baptiste’s death are ongoing and they are asking persons with information who can assist with this investigation to contact the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of crimes at telephone number:457-1211; the officer-in-charge of the Criminal Investigations

Department at:456-1810; or the officer in charge of the North-Western Division at 458-2229. Such persons may also make a report at any police station or to any police officer who they are comfortable speaking with. All information received would be treated confidentially, the release promised.

Baptiste’s death marks the 23rd homicide reported for 2022.
