The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to visit SVG

Their Royal Highnesses, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will visit St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) on March 20, 2019 as part of their Caribbean tour scheduled to take place from March 17 to 29, 2019.

The islands to be visited are: St Lucia, Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Cuba and the British overseas territory – the Cayman Islands. It would be the first time that Cuba will receive an official visit from a member of the Royal family, a release said.

While in SVG on March 20, their Royal Highnesses, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will be met on arrival by Governor General, Sir Frederick Ballantyne and Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves. Key themes that will be highlighted in their events programme include the preservation of the islands’ natural environment, youth opportunity and female empowerment.

The Prince of Wales is expected to tour the Botanic Gardens, whilst the Duchess of Cornwall will visit the St Vincent Girls’ High School, where students have been busy creating their entries for the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition.

The Prince of Wales has visited 45 out of the 53 Commonwealth nations. The Duchess has visited 21 Commonwealth nations with the Prince of Wales. This will be the Duchess of Cornwall’s first visit to SVG, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada and the Cayman Islands.
