Gov’t hosts Child Justice consultation

The Ministry of National Mobilisation through the Child Development Unit yesterday held a one-day consultation with stakeholders from the National Commission on the Rights of the Child and other key players in the national debate on the Draft Child Justice Bill.

The Child Justice Bill provides the legislative framework for juvenile justice reform here in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The Ministry, which has the responsibility for its implementation, is desirous of having this Bill being passed into law before 2018 ends, thus the importance of the national debate so as to garner the requisite input of all key stakeholders at this stage before the document goes to parliament.

Yesterday’s consultation took place at the Fisheries Conference Room. Thirty key stakeholders were at the consultation which was chaired by Crown Counsel in the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Kezron Walters and J’Lany Williams.
