Escaped prisoner says he ran because he feared for his life

The escaped prisoner who recently handed himself over to authorities has revealed that he fled custody because he fears for his life.

Last Tuesday, November 15, Keon Scott was accompanied to the Central Police Station in Kingstown by lawyer Dr Linton Lewis – who has been acquainted with the family for several years.

Speaking with SEARCHLIGHT, Scott said that he panicked while being transported from Serious Offences{{more}} Court to prison last Friday because, according to him, there are those already incarcerated who have been making threats against his life.

“The man who wah kill me dey in jail!”

A tearful Scott, who had originally been arrested by police on October 8 for illegally possessing a .38 revolver and ammunition, said that the only reason he had a gun in the first place was for protection.

He explained that he does agricultural work in the mountains with another man, who gave him the weapon to defend himself, as allegedly, there is a feud going on between a group of men from Vermont and a group of men from Paul’s Lot.
