Man accused of shooting Vincentian over shoes in US arrested

The family of Benedict ‘Benny’ Sam, also known as Sam Cosmore, the Layou man who was shot and killed in Brooklyn on May 31 this year, may soon get some justice.

New York police have caught Donald Proudfoot, the man accused of shooting the Vincentian over a pair of Air Jordans.

Reports are that Sam, who resided in Brooklyn New York, was shot and killed about 1:30 a.m. {{more}}The cab driver was shot in the chest on Schenectady Avenue near St John’s Place in Crown Heights, during an argument.

Sam, 46, was gunned down at a Brooklyn block party, which was being held to celebrate Memorial Day. The married father of two was found lying in the road by firefighters returning from a run.

According to a report, Proudfoot is reportedly so obsessed with sneakers that he shot Sam over the pair of Air Jordans. Police told the New York Post that this isn’t the first time Proudfoot has been involved in a sneaker incident.

Last November, the 28-year-old Proudfoot was arrested for domestic abuse, after he reportedly beat his then girlfriend and stole her “retro black and red Jordans, as well as a pair of UGGs,” the Post reports.

It was reported that witnesses told police that Proudfoot was the shooter, but he remained on the run until a few days ago.
