Brace yourself for periodic interruptions – CWSA
Residents of several areas that are fed water from the Majorca system have been told to brace themselves for periodic interruptions to the supply.
The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) has reported that continuing heavy rainfall in the interior of the island has resulted in a series of landslides above its Majorca Intake, which has severely affected the quality of water coming into the system, with higher than normal silt loads and muddy water.{{more}}
âIn order to improve the quality of water supplied from this system, the CWSA will have to periodically interrupt the supply to several areas fed from the Majorca system until the situation is satisfactorily resolved,â a notice published on the CWSAâs Facebook page on Tuesday said.
The areas in which the supply will be interrupted include: Riley, Kelbourney, Gomea, Dauphine, Ashburton, Belair, Fairbaine, Belmont, Fairhall, Fountain, Whim, Queenâs Drive, Cane Hall, Dorsetshire Hill, Millerâs Gate, Upper Sion Hill, Murrayâs Village.
The CWSA said it regretted any inconvenience caused by these natural occurrences and reminded the public that we are now in the middle of the hurricane season, where the likelihood of outages, resulting from landslides, increases significantly.
