Gunshot victim calls for justice after ordeal

A Campden Park man, who was shot along with two of his friends on Sunday morning, says he only wants justice, as he was innocently wounded.

Ivan Matthews, 23, in an interview with SEARCHLIGHT yesterday, said he was playing dominoes at a birthday party for one of his friends at Roucher Bay, Campden Park, when he felt a sting on his leg.{{more}}

Before the shots were fired, Matthews said he saw a man in the area who had previously got into an argument with his cousin Kimron Matthews, who was also wounded at the party.

“The man like he come down to look for he (Kimron), then spot the man (Kimron) deh and then in the next 10 minutes, me just hear gunshot start to fire,” an injured Matthews said.

“All I look, I deh on the ground with a bullet in me foot,” he said, adding that the gunman then fled the scene.

Ivan was shot above his knee and has stated that he needs surgery to get the bullet out of his leg.

Matthews reiterated that he never got into an altercation with the shooter and he only wants justice.

“I want police find the guy…and lock him up,” he said.

Kimron Matthews and Zavia Durham also received gunshot wounds to their legs.

Up to press time Ivan and Kimron were still patients at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, while Durham had earlier been discharged.
