CSR 23rd Annual Congress held in SVG
The Caribbean Society of Radiologists (CSR) held its 23rd Annual Congress in St Vincent and the Grenadines this past weekend.
Attended by 46 delegates and 10 company representatives, the Congress consisted of a series of didactic scientific lectures, which updated colleagues across the region on the status of radiological practices and availability of services in the region.{{more}}
The radiologists and radiological technologists hailed from Jamaica and Cuba in the north to Suriname and Guyana in the South, with the largest contingent coming from Trinidad and Tobago.
Speakers made strong presentations on topics regarding clinical presentations and imaging of diseases, such as sickle cell, specifically in the Caribbean and some of its more recently recognized complications which are being observed, especially in the younger population; breast disease and its management in the Caribbean; and prostate cancer. New techniques in medical imaging which can be shared and adapted to suit our general limitations in the region were also discussed.
Company representatives from radiological suppliers, Biomedical International â agents for GE, BAYER; International Med-X â agents for Phillips manufacturers and MEDIMAX â agents for Hologic, were in attendance to update radiologists on the new equipment, modalities, technical capabilities and supply innovations in the field of radiology.
The Congress took place at the Buccament Bay Resort, which received high praises for the excellent standard of accommodation and service provided in receiving such a diverse group.
The CSR also held its Delegates and Sponsors dinner at the Beachcombers Hotel restaurant, which was praised for a sumptuous menu.
Local arrival gifts were provided to the delegates and sponsors by the SVG Tourism Authority, St Vincent Distillers Limited, Gonsalves Liquors, and Ericaâs Country Style. Ground transportation was ably provided by Ozzie & Callyâs Airport Taxis, while site tours were provided by Marlon Thompson Bus Tours. All aspects of this event were commended by the visitors.
The local organizing team who made this event a reality included Dr Rosalind E Ambrose â organizing chairperson for all 23 Congresses of the Caribbean Society of Radiologists; Shannon Durrant-Samuel, Natasha Sargeant and Chevonne Stewart.
The executive of the CSR consists of: president â Dr Jesse Jessurun (Suriname/Curaçao); Immediate past president â Dr K L Carroll (The Bahamas); vice-president â Dr G Canahaute (Dominican Republic) general secretary â Dr RE Ambrose (SVG); assistant secretary â Dr Maria Gosein (Trinidad and Tobago).
