Union Island man dies in boating accident in T&T
A boating accident in Trinidad and Tobago last Monday took the life of Elvin Joseph, a fisherman from Union Island.
According to reports coming out of the twin island republic, Joseph was operating a dinghy off the coast of Chaguanas at around 11:30 p.m., when he was struck by a pleasure craft.{{more}}
It is reported that Joseph was heading ashore when the pleasure craft struck the dinghy.
On realizing what had happened, the captain of the pleasure boat summoned the Coast Guard and Joseph was taken to the St James health facility, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Joseph is said to have been employed as a seaman on a local vessel.
