Government not doing anything to deal with increase in violent crime – Eustace
Leader of the Opposition Arnhim Eustace believes that the current government is not doing anything to deal with the increase in violent crimes.
Speaking on the Hot 97.1 AM Mayhem radio programme, Eustace stated that his party had already conceptualized two planks to deal with crime, which included preventative policies and taking action against perpetrators.{{more}}
âThat is why we developed our social, spiritual redemption charter to make sure that there is more input on the part of government in relation to dealing with criminal activity in the country,â he said.
The Opposition Leader stated that in their plan, certain institutions would conduct training courses for young people in certain areas to keep them occupied.
âGet involved in groups as associations with positive attitudes. So get them from an early age.â
Additionally, he believes that education will play a significant role in the reduction of crime.
Moreover, Eustace stated that there needs to be a regional approach to crime fighting.
âI think we need a more fundamentally regional approach to deal with the overall crime situation,â he added.
He pointed out that he believes that even more can be done regionally to address issues like drug and gun trafficking.
