Digicel develops, grows from within

Continuing on its commitment to provide opportunities of growth and development for local talent, Digicel has announced two changes to its management team in St Vincent and Grenadines. These include the promotion of Danielle Cupid to the position of marketing manager and Lonely Duncan as chief financial controller, effective January 1, 2016.

These announcements are being made on the heels of the company’s recent opening of its call centre, which is currently staffed with over 40 new local employees.

Danielle’s journey with Digicel started just over two years ago when she joined the company as a marketing intern in summer 2013, before landing a permanent position as a marketing executive in January 2014. Through hard work and her drive to succeed, Danielle surpassed expectations after being placed on a fast-track programme to her new role of marketing manager.

The elated Cupid said; “It’s truly an honour to be a part of the Digicel family. I came in with a positive and open mind to learn as much and it’s great to be rewarded for my hard work in an environment that promotes growth for its employees. I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue to deliver superior service to our customers in St Vincent.”

Meanwhile, Lonely Duncan, another local with over 10 years’ experience in finance, is also a qualified chartered accountant with experience in retail and telecommunications.

“This promotion is a great opportunity to continue to add value in a very dynamic team, while gaining even more exposure here. I’m very excited about this move and what it means for my growth in finance within the Digicel family.” Lonely holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of North Hampton.

In commending Cupid and Duncan on their promotion, commercial manager Dionne Emtage said, “We are developing and promoting from within the ranks, ensuring that we are allowing Vincentians first opportunity and we are very happy for Danielle and Lonely. They epitomize what it means to go above and beyond to deliver extraordinary results every day.

“As a brand, a huge part of our focus is also hiring and developing local talents, so we will continue to build on our workforce, choosing from the highly skilled and qualified pool of local talent in St Vincent to deliver innovative products and services to our customers,” Emtage concluded.

Digicel has positioned itself as an open company – empowering its employees to make decisions and take responsibility for their actions, while honing their skills and developing their careers.
