7,500 tablets coming for primary school students

St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is set to benefit even more from its economic alliance with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

This, according to Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro Moros, on a recent state visit to the multi-island nation.{{more}}

Speaking through an interpreter, Maduro announced that a new body will be established that will be designed to “foster trade between Venezuela… and the Eastern Caribbean” – the Corporation of External Commerce of Eastern Venezuela.

“Sometimes we import products and services from far away regions when, at the same time, we can find them very close to us,” he pointed out.

“It has been historically proven that the regions that have more prosperity are those who have been able to establish among them the deep, profound, economic and commercial ties.”

Maduro added: “But here we are talking about fair trade, accompanied by growing investments with a new vision of economic development, which is based on complementarity.”

In a move that will benefit some 7,500 primary school students, the Venezuelan president also announced that his government will be donating digital tablets to be disbursed within the local education system.

“These tablets have been manufactured in Venezuela, and they will soon be getting here. They are very modern, very robust!”

Additionally, the government of Venezuela will join the government of Ecuador in taking part in SVG’s English learning programme.

This will see students and citizens from across Venezuela travelling to SVG to perfect their command of the English language.

Maduro boasted that his wife Cilia Flores, First Combatant of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, has also opted to complete her learning of the language here in St Vincent, too.
