National Treasures SVG spearheading clean-up Kingstown campaign

A clean-up Kingstown campaign, spearheaded by National Treasures of St Vincent and the Grenadines is being conducted in the area around Victoria Park for Independence.

The clean-up began last week and will continue until Monday, October 26.{{more}}

The area selected for the clean-up initiative includes the outside of Victoria Park, the roads around the Park and the North River from the bridge at Stoney Ground down to the bay side.

The clean-up activities include trimming of the North River banks; the removal, collection and disposal of any garbage from the river and along the river banks; the trimming and cleaning of the grass verges; the removal of silt from the river bed and an additional cleaning of roads, drains and walls and power washing where necessary. Also any litter or garbage on the roads and in the drains will be collected and disposed of.

The three primary schools within the clean-up vicinity: St Mary’s, Kingstown Government and Kingstown Anglican Annex will be given talks, as education and public awareness raising are also important components of the clean-up initiative.

National Treasures is being partnered in this Independence clean-up of the Victoria Park and surroundings by BRAGSA, the CWSA Solid Waste Management Unit, Kingstown Town Board and the Public Health/Sanitation Department.
