SVGHTA introduces new one-day seminar for tourism, hospitality workers

On Tuesday, April 28 at the Grenadine House, the SVG Hotel & Tourism Association introduced a brand new One-Day Seminar for Tourism and Hospitality Workers.

The seminar, entitled “Ethics in the Workplace,” covered a number of topics including: What Is Ethics; Benefits of Ethics in the Workplace; Making Ethical Choices; Product Knowledge (Property/Country/Caribbean);{{more}} Use of Company Property; Misuse of Company Resources; Confidentiality; and Conflict Management (Management/Co-workers/ Customers).

The highly interactive seminar was developed by its facilitators, Vera Anne Brereton and Sharon Francis, in recognition of the many existing gaps in this increasingly important subject area.

Participants were drawn from establishments on St Vincent and Bequia.

The Association is itself in the process of developing a code of ethics for its members.

The SVGHTA is offering this one-day seminar to interested business establishments, and non-profit organizations, and will also be developing a similar seminar: Ethics in the Workplace – Preparing for the Job Market, targeting high school graduates who are preparing to enter the job market. The original seminar can be modified to meet the needs of specific sectors and industries.

Interested persons/establishments may contact the SVGHTA at telephone 458-4379, or email: svghotels@vincysurf.com.
