No decision yet on Stephenson following appearance before NDP disciplinary committee

No decision has been made as yet about the fate of Member of Parliament for South Leeward Nigel Stephenson.

Following a meeting of the disciplinary committee of the New Democratic Party (NDP) on Tuesday,{{more}} Leader of the Opposition Arnhim Eustace told SEARCHLIGHT that the committee’s members will submit their findings to the Central Executive Committee of the NDP.

Eustace explained that the Central Executive will then decide what penalties should be meted out to Stephenson, based on the disciplinary committee’s findings and recommendations. Once this final decision has been made, Eustace said that the NDP will make the decision public.

It was recently revealed that, for the past five years, Stephenson has been driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle.

Both Eustace and Stephenson released statements in regard to the incident (which were published in the Tuesday, January 13, 2015 edition of Searchlight), with Eustace condemning the action as “wrong” and Stephenson apologizing and expressing regret for his actions.(JSV)
