Students benefit from Vincentians in Florida

The new school term started off brightly for some students of the Sion Hill Government School, with 50 students from that institution receiving gifts of book bags and stationery.{{more}}

The gifts were donated through the efforts of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Florida (SVGAF).

Glee painted the faces of the students who were indeed happy to receive their tokens.

The SVGAF was able to forge a link with the Sion Hill Government School, with former student Clyde Fitzpatrick being the liaison person for the school here.

Formed over 17 years ago, the SVGAF was established as a non-profit entity in 2009.

In a statement sent to the Sion Hill Government School, the SVGAF wrote: “We have committed ourselves to providing needed assistance to institutions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”

“Over the years, we have been able to procure and ship medical and school supplies to selected hospitals and schools in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” the statement added.

Presently the executive of the SVGAF consists of Christopher Crichton – president; Joel Pompey – vice-president; Patricia Dyette – secretary/treasurer and Ena Mars – public relations officer.(RT)
