French declined an interview yesterday, but it is alleged that the jewelry belonged to Cashwiz, the pawnshop type business that is operated by French and located on the first floor of the building that formerly housed Square Deal Shippers on Sharpe Street, Kingstown.

It is not clear when exactly the robbery took place, but jewelry shops island-wide were put on alert over the weekend when French forwarded photos of the stolen items, asking local jewelers to be on the lookout.

The missing jewelry includes gold chains, pendants, bangles and rings and is said to have been removed during a burglary of French’s residence. It is alleged that he was not at home at the time of the break-in, and a number of other items were also stolen.

Police are investigating.
