Yambou resident found dead with gunshot wound to face

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Lawrence “Lalow” Marks, 48, labourer of Yambou.

According to a police report, the deceased was found with a gunshot wound to his face, at about 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 8,{{more}} at Yambou.

Mother of the deceased, Gloria Marks-Gomez, speaking to SEARCHLIGHT by telephone, from New York where she resides, said she just wants investigators to find who killed her son.

“I would love for them to find the person who really shoot him. I am not coping well. He is my first born and he was a very nice child. Everybody know he does drink, but that was the only problem he had. He had no enemies. He was a child with a big heart. If you asked him to do anything for you, he will do it,” Marks-Gomez told SEARCHLIGHT yesterday.

“The hardest part is the way somebody could just watch him and take his life. Shoot him and leave him by the road to die like a dog,” she stated.

The bereaved mother said that she was at work when she received the dreaded news about her son’s demise.

“That was a shock to all of us. We are really in shock and it’s just the way it happened. If a car had bounced him, I would have been satisfied to know that he got knock down by a car, but not somebody to shoot him,” she said.

According to the grieving mother, she last spoke to her son sometime in October and noted that he seemed to be in a joyous mood.

“As usual, he asked how I was doing and how the family was doing and all like that. He would ask for his sisters and brother. I never hear him that he is in trouble…,” Marks-Gomez said.

“I want the person who kill my son to know that they might have gotten away from mankind, but the saviour is looking down and he will deal with them,” Marks-Gomez said.

She added that she has not heard anything concrete as to what may have led to her son’s death, and added that she will find out more when she arrives in the state tomorrow.

“I’ve already bought his clothes and now it’s my duty to come and bury my son,” she said.

At the time of his death, Marks lived alone.

Marks’ murder was one of three that occurred over the weekend, which saw the homicide toll for 2014 rise to 34.(KW)
