People travelling to SVG from Ebola affected countries being restricted

Restrictions are now in place for people wishing to enter St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), who have visited certain countries in West Africa in the last 28 days.

A release from the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment said these measures have been put in place {{more}}to prevent the entry of the Ebola viral disease into SVG.

People travelling to SVG from Guinea, Sierra Leone or Liberia or those who have visited any of the aforementioned countries during a 28 day period will not be allowed entry into SVG.

People travelling to SVG from Nigeria or any other West African country or those who visited any of the aforementioned countries during a 28 day period must present upon entry at any port of entry to SVG a negative blood test result for Ebola (done not more than 7 days prior to leaving their home country to come to SVG) in order to be allowed entry into SVG.

In relation to these measures, the Ministry said it has already secured the commitment of each of the four medical schools here in SVG: the Trinity University School of Medicine, All Saints University, American University of St Vincent and St James School of Medicine.

The Ministry also advised citizens that the nation’s Ebola risk remains low, based on the evaluation of the Pan American Health Organisation, and that all agreed decisions and activities in relation to the management of Ebola are consistent with those of other Caricom countries.
