Stop throwing objects on transmission lines: VINLEC

St. Vincent Electricity Services Ltd. (VINLEC) is appealing to the public to desist from throwing foreign objects on its electric transmission lines.{{more}}

VINLEC blamed last Saturday’s power outage on the mainland on foreign objects thrown on high voltage lines.

In a statement, VINLEC disclosed that the power outage occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m., as a result of its high voltage lines at Lowman’s Bay short circuiting after objects had been thrown on them.

Power was returned to customers after a short while.

VINLEC stressed that tampering with the company’s transmission and distribution system, which includes poles, power lines, stay wires and transformers, is dangerous and can result in severe problems on the system.

The company appealed to the public to report all incidents of tampering.
