SVG finishes third in 2026 WINLOTT Under-19 Cricket Tournament
ST.VINCENT and the Grenadines (SVG), finished third in the 2026 WINLOTT /Windward Islands Under-19 Cricket Tournament held in Dominica from April 11 – 18 with matches being played at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, and Geneva Playing Field in Grand Bay. The Vincentians played six matches.They won two and lost four to finish on 4-points, ahead of Grenada with one victory, one no-result, and four losses to finish on 2- points at the bottom of the four team tournament.
Dominica, who retained the title finished with four wins, one loss, and a no result, amassing 9- points, while St Lucia had three wins, one defeat, and two no-results giving them 8-points to finish second.
St.Vincent and the Grenadines’ fast bowler Kazado Henry, received the award for most wickets taken, 15.
He also received two man of the match awards; the first being for his 6 for 28 in 9 overs versus Grenada on Tuesday, April 14, and the second on Friday April 17, at Benjamin Park against Grenada for his allround performance, scoring 23 not out, and taking 2 for 28 in 5 overs.
Another top performer for SVG was Jawayne Adams who shared the best wicket keeper award with Jonathan Daniel of St Lucia; they each had seven victims.
St.Vincent and the Grenadines’ first victory was against Grenada at the Geneva Playing Field on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, when they bounced back from consecutive defeats in their opening two matches, to win Grenada by 62 runs.The Vincentians won the toss and batted first, and were all out for 169 in 35.2 overs. Kevin Joseph top-scored with 45, Ozaid Edwards 21, with Jayvonn Henry grabbing 5 for 32, and Jeremy Edwards 1 for 19.
In reply, the Grenadians were all out for 107 in 22.5 overs; Jayvonn Henry top-scoring with 28, and Jamie Wickham, 24. Bowling for SVG Kazado Henry took 6 for 28, and De Andre Dougan had 2 for 19.
The second victory for SVG was against Grenada in the fifth round clash on Friday, April 17 at Benjamin Park where they secured a 60-run victory that moved them into third place in the points standings.
There was a delayed start to the game due to heavy overnight showers that rendered parts of the ground unfit for play. Following the drying operations the umpires reduced the match to 35-overs per side, and play began at noon.
Having won the toss, St. Vincent and the Grenadines batted first posting 181 for 6, Lebron Douglas leading the batting with 44 from 32 balls, and Damali Phillips chipping in with 33 from 54.
For the Grenadians, Desrond Mitchell was their best bowler finishing with figures of 3 for 32 runs in his 7.0 overs.
Grenada responding, struggled against a good bowling display by the Vincentians leading to the collapse of the Grenadines who lost momentum following the dismissal of captain Khavaughn Bartholomew, who made 32 from 29 balls, and Desrond Mitchell 19 from 50 deliveries.
The required run rate kept climbing as Elran Glasgow with 3 for 31, and Olani Slack 2 for 14, tightened their grip and choked the batting scuttling the Grenada for 121 in 32.2 overs.
SVG, who were bottom of the table in the previous tournament, lost matches to St Lucia on April 11, to Dominica at on April 12, and to St Lucia on April 15- all at the Geneva Playing Field, and also went down to Dominica on April 18 at Benjamin Park.
