Murals enhance Villa/ Calliaqua stretch
A CONSPICUOUS addition to the area between the Aquatic Club gap to the entrance near the French Verandah Restaurant on the coastal Villa stretch, has enhanced the aesthetics of that stretch. The mural, with its effervescent blue adorns the wall as the artists put their interpretation on the concept to work.
This eye-catching work of art merges the cultures of Barbados and St Vincent and the Grenadines in a show of Caribbean unity.

From the Flying Fish to the Windmill and Chattel houses of Barbados, across to the turquoise waters and emblems of St Vincent and the Grenadines, the mural represents a pleasing work done with love and pride.
Over a period of two weeks enduring the sun and rain, the eight Vincentians and the three Barbadians have painted a graphic picture of life above and below the seas.
Visual Arts Development Officer in the Department of Culture and Creative Industries Shanique Stewart, told SEARCHLIGHT on Sunday, August 30, 2026, that the mural shows the power of collaboration and cross culture sharing.
“We’re trying to build a culture, the visual arts culture, and part of that strategy is not just having all Vincentian artists just create like that. I think that it’s important that we learn from persons who are actually doing this,” she explained.
“It’s just about learning first, and then from that you can start branching off and building from that.”
Meanwhile, Sheri Ann Marie Nicholls, who along with Rodney Ifill and Neville LeGall, comprised the team of Barbadian artists, also shared their input into the project.
