Twenty young sailors compete in National Sailing Championships

The St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Sailing Association on Saturday, December 17, staged its National Championships at the Blue Lagoon Hotel and Marina.

Utilising that area and the Calliaqua Bay, 20 young sailors from the different clubs pitted their skills in 20 races.

The sailors thus competed for supremacy in the Optimist and the Olympic ILCA 6 classes.

The Optimist fleet was won by Kai Marks-Dasent, with second place taken by Tegan Deane.

Docking behind Marks- Dasent and Deane was Lamont Gregg.

Deane was also the first- place female in that class.

In the Olympic ILCA6 class, Jamark Osbourne came out on top, ahead of Royal Boatswain, with Orion Ollivierre copping the third spot . Scarlett Hadley took the first place female award.
Last Saturday’s National Sailing Championships was supported by the National Lotteries Authority, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee and Trident-UK, the SVG Sailing said in a release.

The next calendar event of the Association takes place in Bequia in April 2023, with the hosting of the Bequia Easter Regatta.
