Regional Under-19 cricket begins today at three venues

Three Round 1 matches are set to begin today, when the 2022 Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 three-day championship bowls off here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, at three venues.

The three matches scheduled to commence today, and continue until August 11, will see host team Windward Islands clash with northern neighbours, Leeward Islands, at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground.

The other Round 1 matches are Trinidad and Tobago versus Guyana at the Park Hill Playing Field, while at Cumberland Playing Field, Barbados and Jamaica will do battle.

Round 2 matches will be played from Sunday, August 14 to Tuesday, August 16, with the Windward Islands and Jamaica doing battle at the Cumberland Playing Field, the Leeward Islands and Guyana clashing at the Park Hill Playing Field, while over at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground, Trinidad and Tobago take on Barbados.

Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 21, will see the playing of Round 3 matches. The Windward Islands and Barbados meet at the Park Hill Playing Field, Jamaica and Guyana do battle at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground, while the Leeward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago clash at the Cumberland Playing Field.

Round 4 matches will be played between Wednesday 24 and Friday 26, August 2022. The first and second place decider will be at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground between the first place teams in Groups A and B, respectively.

The third and fourth place decider will be between the second placed teams in Groups A and B, respectively, at the Park Hill Playing Field, while at the Cumberland Playing Field, the fifth and sixth place decider will be played between the third placed teams in Groups A and B, respectively.

The six teams have been divided into two groups, namely Group A, consisting of Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and the Leeward Islands, while Group B is made up of Barbados, Jamaica, and the Windward Islands. All matches commence at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. daily.

The Windward Islands Under-19 cricket squad is Ackeem Auguste (captain), Stephan Pascal (vice-captain), Kelshon Andrew, Solomon Bascombe, Tarrique Edward, Kevin Gassie, Ethan Gibson, Jerel Jeremiah, Divonie Joseph, Noel Leo, Edmund Morancie, Kirt Murray, Devin Tyson, and Luke Wilson. Clifford Thomas is the coach, and Randel Baptiste is the manager. The reserves are Kervyn Gangadeen, Jelani Joseph, Sky Lafeuille and Amari Venner.
