Saints stay perfect in Neil Williams T/20 Cricket Competition

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS of the Neil Williams T/20 Cricket Competition, Guardian General Saints stayed on the winning course last Saturday and Sunday, with back to back victories.

On Saturday, Saints beat Flow Rivals by nine wickets. Rivals made 86 all out in 19.5 overs.

Marcus Castello – 25.

Bowling for Saints, Jeremy Layne snapped 5/ 30; Ray Charles- 2/17 and Rayan Williams- 2/18.

Jeremy Haywood – 41 and Jahiel Walters- 30, powered Saints to 87/1 from 10 overs.

Saints returned to the Sion Hill Playing Field on Sunday to continue their dominance, this time dismantling Victors Two by 62 runs.

Jeremy Layne struck a top score of 47 to lead Saints to 168/8 from their 20 overs. Victors Two in response made 106/9 from their allotment.

Victors Two on Saturday had defeated SVG Community College by six wickets at Arnos Vale Two.

Marlon Williams- 41 and Irvin Warrican Jr. – 39, were the main contributors to the College’s total of 159 all out from 19.3 overs. Kishore Shallow was Victors Two’s lead bowler, taking 4/34 and Watson Seaton had 2/38. Victors Two’s reply of 161/4 from 18.1 overs, was crafted by Dave Duncan’s 73 not out and Kinson Dalzell’s 38. But the College students made amends on Sunday at the same venue to beat Smashers by one wicket. Smashers posted 110 all out. SVG Community College- 112/9.

At the Stubbs Playing Field on Sunday, Police Two showed no mercy to Dominic Sutherland/ Lloyd Lewis/ Memorial Funeral Home, whipping them by 10 wickets. Chasing 74 to win, Police Two rushed to 79 for no loss in just 4.3 overs.

Dillon Douglas followed up his 2/15 in Dominic Sutherland/ Lloyd Lewis/ Memorial Home’s innings of 73 all out, to pile on 61 not out. Douglas’ knock contained 2 fours and 7 sixes.

There were also victories for Keegan’s Bequia XI and Flow Rivals in Sunday’s other fixtures.

At Arnos Vale Two, Bequia XI registered a 23 -run win over Strike Eagles.

Olanzo Bellingy hit 35, as Bequia XI posted 125. Ronique Harry picked off 3/8 and Darren John scalped 3/49, bowling for Strike Eagles. In reply, Strike Eagles were dismissed for 102. Javid Wilson top scored with 39, while Lorraine Ollivierre took 5/25, Chelston Stowe- 2/12 and Terron Campbell- 2/19.

And, Rivals overcame Victors One by 44 runs. A host of reasonably good scores saw Rivals to 196/8 from 20 overs at the Sion Hill Playing Field. Dean Browne knocked 34 and Kodi Grant, Davian Barnum and Marcus Castello, each chalked up 31 for Rivals.

Luke Wilson was the pick of Victors One’s bowling, taking 3/38.

Victors One, despite Atticus Browne’s 90, could only respond with 152/5 from their 20 overs. Dean Browne took 2/23, bowling for Flow Rivals.

Six matches are scheduled for this Sunday as the competition continues.
