Quarter-finalists determined in Greiggs Softball Cricket Competition

The eight quarter-finalists have been decided in the Hairoun Beer/Sea Operations/Courtesy Sports Greiggs T/20 Softball Cricket Competition.{{more}}

Making it through are Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, Nice Radio Pine Hill Clinchers, CGM Gallagher Novice, Dr Thomas Injectors, Panthers, Links, Combined Sixers and last year’s winners – Owia Young Strikers.

Nar Fren Dem, Clinchers, Novice, Injectors and Panthers all ensured their advancement with wins last weekend.

Host team Nar Fren Dem reached 128 for 5 from their 20 overs against Fully Loaded, as the match was reduced because of a late start. Kenford Collis topped the batting with 34 and Keno Matthews hit 31.

Suneel Paul took 3 for 30, bowling for Fully Loaded, who were then dismissed for 67 by 16.4 overs.

Elton Castello scored 30. Bowling for Nar Fren Dem, Keno Matthews grabbed 4 for 17 and Jamal John – 2 for 1, to see their team to a 61– run win.

Meanwhile, Clinchers reached the last eight, with a six-wicket triumph at the expense of RSVG Police.

The law officers got to 103 for 9; Salvan Browne hit 29 and Gerald Gould – 22.

Carlon John was the most successful bowler with 2 for 12.

Clinchers then sped to 108 for 4, Rajiv Roberts – 38 and Donwell Hector – 32, being the principal scorers.

Also, Novice walloped Spartans by 103 runs.

Novice’s total of 137 for 3 from their 17 overs, was built on Elton Williams’s 108 not out. Williams slammed 15 sixes and 2 fours in his belligerent knock.

Spartans then crumbled for 34, undone by Travis Cumberbatch – 4 for 17 and Kentish Phillips – 2 for 0.

Dr Thomas Injectors, though, had a closer fight with Super Strikers, in which they prevailed by 21 runs.

Ron Adams struck 67, to lead Injectors’ posting of 138 for 8 from their 20 overs. JR Ashton took 2 for 13 and Tyson Richards – 2 for 28, bowling for Super Strikers.

In their response, Super Strikers fell for 107 in 17 overs, with JR Ashton the lead batsman with 32.

Super Strikers’ innings was wrecked by Wendell Corridon, who bagged 5 for 23 and Damien Allen – 2 for 6.

And, Panthers eked out a two-wicket downing of Country Meets Town Outa Trouble Family.

Batting first, Outa Trouble scored 101 all out in 19 overs. Neil Davy snapped up 3 for 34, bowling for Panthers. Casmond Walters struck 44, to see Panthers to 102 for 8 from 18 overs.

Sunil James had 3 for 18 and Danny Allen – 2 for 26, in a losing cause for Outa Trouble.(RT)
