ISCCF appoints board of directors for next two years

A new board of directors to serve the Inter School and College Christian Fellowship (ISCCF) for the next two years has been appointed.

The board is headed by chair – David Peniston, who is supported by Westfield Williams – vice-chair; Cherry-Ann Isaacs – secretary; Ricardo Roberts – Treasurer; Dexter Small – PRO; Gary Bynoe – prayer coordinator; Olford Walters – member.{{more}}

Along with the board of directors, Dr Khara Collymore will lend support and serve as a part-time staff worker.

The board was appointed on Saturday, November 5, when the Inter School and College Christian Fellowship (ISCCF) held its first Annual General Meeting at the New Testament Church of God at Wilson Hill.

The meeting was attended by a wide cross- section of stakeholders including: past and present teachers, past and present principals, graduates of ISCCF, pastors, tertiary and secondary students, and supporters of the movement.

Addresses were made by Minister of Education St Clair Prince and the general secretary of the Caribbean Fellowship of Evangelical Students (CARIFES). Prince stated that he was a proud member of the ISCCF and is glad to have been associated with that ministry in the ‘70s while a student at the St Vincent Grammar School.

He said the Ministry helped to shape him into who he is today and that the more concentration there is on the word of God, the better life would be. He further stated that there are many distractions today, so we have to stay focused. He informed the membership that ISCCF has a role to play and they should not get sidetracked, but do as their motto says: “To know Christ and to make Him known.”

CARIFES general secretary Desmond Rogers expounded on the relationship between ISCCF, CARIFES and the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). He also presented the plaques and certificates to the persons who were honoured. CARIFES headquarters is located in Georgetown, Guyana.

Pastor Chiefton Charles, who is also an ISCCF graduate from the St Vincent Grammar School and also a former sponsor, delivered the exhortation from the scripture. His text was taken from 2 Timothy 4:12. He challenged all present. To the older ones, he said that young people will do well when we, the older ones, inspire them. He made reference to the three Hebrew boys and Daniel, who stood up for what they believed. He further said that they had character and class. He also made reference to his son and daughter, who excelled at university because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

“If you are a child of God,” he said, “you are never at a disadvantage.” He challenged the gathering to honour God, for when we do, God in turn honours us.

Reports were also presented by the chair, David Peniston; treasurer Ricardo Roberts and part-time staff worker, Dr Khara Collymore. These reports highlighted the achievements, present status and plans of the movement for the 2016-2017 year.

One of the highlights of the AGM was the honouring of several persons who made invaluable contributions over the years. Grace Eustace and Elsa Velox were awarded for their pioneering work. Eustace started the first Bible Club in a secondary school at the Emmanuel High School, Kingstown, in 1954, while Velox started the first ISCF group at the Girls’ High School a few years later.

Christopher Cumberbatch was awarded for his many years of service as the chair of the national board until May 2016.

Other persons who served on the board of directors were also awarded. These include: Shanelle Jacobs (outgoing vice-chair), Jean Carter (outgoing secretary), Susan Abraham, Sylvester King and Laura Smart.

The office of the ISCCF is located in the VINSAVE compound.
