In a release issued on Tuesday, the NCCP again called on citizens to âstop the senseless killings which have been plaguing our Vincentian society within recent times.
âThe National Commission on Crime Prevention offers its condolences to the family, friends and communities of Vermont and Belvedere. The NCCP is deeply concerned and fearful that persons are not resolving conflicts in an amicable way. The NCCP continues to abhor unnecessary and terrifying acts against humanity. The Department is also hopeful that the initiatives employed by the authorities, private citizens, and the NCCP to stem the wave of crime will bear results in the shortest possible time as we work tirelessly âto build a culture of peace in this countryâ,â the release said.
Meanwhile the NCCP said it is also making a special appeal to persons to stay away from violent activities during the ongoing carnival festivities.
The Department also said it is in total agreement with the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force to shut down any activity where unruly behaviour and violence erupt.
âPersons are reminded that knives, cutlasses, guns and other sharp implements have no place at carnival and other festivities. Let us make this season a good one for everyone.
âWe encourage persons to remain on the alert at all times and to pay attention to our jingles on Radio, Television, VC3 and at the Victoria Park.â
