Lawyer to take action on behalf of accused police officers
THE DECISION by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) to suspend without pay, officers who are accused of crimes, has attracted the attention of attorney Grant Connell.
Connell said that when it comes to suspending officers who are accused of crime, the law is very clear, and he has already written to the Commissioner of Police (COP) Enville Williams, stating his intention to take the relevant authorities to court as it relates to three officers who were suspended without pay pending the outcome of their court matters.
Speaking to SEARCHLIGHT outside the Calliaqua Magistrate’s Court on May 12, Connell mentioned the three cases of the officers on whose behalf he has written the COP.
One of the officers is Kyle Nimblet, 23, charged that on September 6, 2023, at Villa, he with intent to commit the offence of murder on Rafia Sardine of Villa, did an act which was more than preparatory to the commission of the offence, entered the dwelling house of Alicia Sardine, of Villa as a trespasser, and at the time had with him a weapon of offence to wit a knife; and, without lawful excuse, damaged one 3×2 ft aluminium sliding window valued at EC$400, the property of Alicia Sardine, of Villa, intending to damage such property.
