Man accused of arson granted $10,000 bail
A Layou man was granted bail in the sum of $10,000 for allegedly setting a woman’s house on fire and destroying over EC$10,000 worth of items.
Ray Patterson appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate, Colin John, yesterday, June 8, 2026 where he was charged that on June 5, 2026 at Layou without lawful excuse he destroyed one shell gas bottle valued EC$100.00, one two-burner counter top stove valued EC$100.00, two full size mattresses valued at EC$400.00 each, a quantity of clothing valued EC$6,000.00, one tablet valued EC$300.00, one plastic chest of drawers valued EC$550.00, one pot set valued EC$800.00, two plastic baskets each valued EC$20.00, six curtain sets valued EC$80.00 each, several pairs of footwear valued at EC$400.00, two book bags valued EC$70.00 each, and a quantity of text books valued EC$500.00, a total value EC$10,970.00, the property of Resha Crooke of Layou, by setting same on fire, being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed.
