Teachers accused of causing damage to children
Some members of educational institutions here are causing psychological damage to children who have speech and communication disorders, calling them names and making unprofessional comments regularly.
This assessment has come from psychologist attached to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), Kimberley Cambridge who said in a Facebook post on June 11, 2026 that it would be remiss of her if she did not speak about what she has been seeing over the past few months.
“I would be doing a major disservice to the children that I work with daily if I did not loudly protest, condemn, denounce and lambast some members of the educational institutions who are quite literally causing some of the most disheartening psychological damage to children with speech and communication disorders,” Cambridge said in the social media post.
Cambridge is a speech and language therapist, whose speciality is children with autism spectrum disorders, language disorders, and motor speech disorders. She also works with adults with expressive and receptive aphasias, and notes that children may need speech therapy to improve communication, articulation, fluency, or language comprehension, while adults who have suffered a stroke may need speech therapy.
