PSU President wants CMO to retire; He’s ‘out of order’, says former PM
THE PRESIDENT OF the Public Service Union (PSU), Elroy Boucher’s call for the retirement of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr Simone Keizer-Beache is “entirely out of order” says Opposition Leader Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
During a press conference on Monday, December 8, 2025, Boucher said the Public Service Commission (PSC) should retire the CMO because of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate that resulted in some people being deemed to have abandoned their jobs.
Dr Gonsalves, speaking at a press conference two days later, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, mentioned that someone mentioned that a certain person had told the Chief Personnel Officer during the 2025 election campaign that the job the CMO is doing belonged to them.
“I don’t know if that is so, Boucher can confirm or deny that, because one day I’m told that when he had a meeting with the Chief Personnel Officer, and they had some difference of opinion, not too long ago, he said to her, ‘you’re sitting down in the seat which is mine’…”, Dr. Gonsalves said.
