Revised food delivery measures in place at HMP

Prison authorities have instituted revised food delivery measures at His Majesty’s Prisons, and they are advising relatives, friends and members of the public to take note of these changes.

A release from the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) dated September 14, 2026 indicate that the revised measures, which take effect immediately, will govern the delivery of food items to inmates at His Majesty’s Prisons and the Belle Isle Correctional Facility as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security.

Under the revised arrangements:

• Fruit may be delivered from Monday to Friday.

• One home-cooked meal may be delivered on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

• Each meal must consist of one portion for one inmate.

• Each person making a delivery will be permitted to deliver items for one inmate only.

Persons making deliveries must present a valid form of identification and provide the correct full name of the inmate for whom the items are intended. Nicknames, aliases or “play names” will not be accepted.

All items presented for delivery will be subject to the established security checks and procedures of the respective correctional facility.

“Failure to comply with these requirements will result in the items being refused. Persons who breach the delivery requirements may also be prohibited from making future deliveries to the prison facilities,” the release advises.

Members of the public are therefore encouraged to familiarise themselves with the revised requirements before attempting to make a delivery.

“These measures are intended to strengthen security while maintaining a controlled arrangement through which inmates at His Majesty’s Prisons and the Belle Isle Correctional Facility may continue to receive approved food items.”
